Digital Marketing + Merchandising July 2010 – May 2012
While at bambeco, I had the opportunity to explore two sides of the business: merchandising and digital marketing. Upon relocating to San Francisco in 2012 for my husband's job, I transitioned from merchandising to the more remote-friendly position of affiliate marketing manager. I was still able to contribute from a merchant's perspective when selecting seasonal products to feature in key marketing campaigns and initiatives.
Major skills acquired: Visual merchandising, Seasonal product planning and storyboarding, Google Analytics, Affiliate Marketing (Commission Junction), Shopvisible, Hootsuite.
To keep the assortment exciting and fresh for our customers, I proposed products for custom category landing pages specific to seasonal marketing calendar and sales events. I generated leads and sourced new products by attending industry trade shows and conducting independent research. I was instrumental in assisting with product selection for email and on-site marketing campaigns.
My claim to fame was bringing in The GreenTree Buddha Candle which was designated as one of Oprah's Favorite Things during Holiday 2013. Additionally, I sourced gold flatware before it was popular and featured on every lifestyle blog ever.
Marketing + PR
I launched the brand's merchant affiliate program through the Commission Junction network and cultivated partnerships with top tier publishers in the loyalty/rewards sector and established presence on leading coupon sites. Despite being new to the affiliate environment, I exceeded quarterly sales goals for the duration of management. Additionally, I assisted CMO with various cross-channel marketing efforts to build brand awareness, monitor and improve e-commerce conversion, click-through rates, site usability, and email acquisition.
As the internal liaison to our PR agency, I provided relevant product samples and generated pitches for key media placements including Real Simple, Cooking Light, Everyday with Rachael Ray, and the Today Show. Due to a full-page feature in
I developed and monitored social media presence through Facebook, Twitter, blogs and social shopping sites to effectively drive brand awareness. I launched the first recurring contest called "iSPY" which incentivized customers to search the site for the product referenced through the Facebook clue. I constantly conducted "social listening" to understand the shopping habits and characteristics of our target customers.
